JoAnn was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and the beautiful landscape of the PacificNorthwest. She received her Bachelor of Science in Spanish Language & Literature from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 2007 and moved down to Southern California in 2009 to attend USC’s Graduate School of Social Work. Upon graduating, she spent the next several years working for a non-profit organization in Los Angeles providing clinical social work and case management services for people experiencing homelessness and working alongside them during their transition to permanent, supportive housing. She has a true passion for meeting people where they’re at, using a nonjudgmental approach, and exploring an individual’s true, unique goals and voice. She was trained in Motivational Interviewing and the Stages of Change, Harm Reduction and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and, based on a personal experience visiting Thailand when she was 17 years old, she also incorporates mindfulness and meditation into her work. JoAnn has been Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker since 2014.
